Little Girl:

Little Girl

Pigtails with ribbons
Her Sunday dress on
She looked to her mommy and said;
“Look I put my shoes on.”

Her mom chuckled and smiled and
Bent down by her child and
Said to her daughter;
“I knew you could do it, it just took a short while”

The little girl reached up to her mother and
Hugged her just right and after a kiss
She looked up and as she smiled told her dear child;
“I love you for life.”

Her mother got up and walked out the door
Headed outside to startup the car
That Sunday, mid morn.

She opened the door, not being aware
Of the man sitting and hiding right behind her front chair.
He held a gun to her head, and told her to drive
And that’s what she did, too afraid to just die.

The little girl just stood and watched her mom drive away,
Without knowing just what she did that wouldn’t allow her to stay.
So without any knowing at all and confused nonetheless
She headed to church in her pink Sunday dress.

When she arrived and tried opening the door,
A young woman looked down and said;
“Well hello little girl, why do you frown?”

She looked up and cried and told her the truth
“my mommy left me today, when I put on my own shoes.”
She went to the car and drove right away
Neither hug nor goodbye, just a small kiss for the day.

The young woman looked frightened and disturbed
And went right to the bishop to share what she heard.

He looked to the girl and said; “honey, don’t you worry.
We will find where your mommy went. And before we are through,
We will pray to our father that he brings her safely back to you.

The little girl looked to him and sighed, and got down on her knees
To say a small prayer, so soft and so sweet;
Our father in heaven, I pray to you now, that you forgive all things I
Have done that cause a frown. I know I am asking a lot of you God, but
Please bring her back; she is all I have anymore. I am begging you please.
For I am here, down on my knees. And I say these things father in the name
Of your son, Jesus Christ.

The bishop looked down with tears in his eyes
And sat there just thinking about what must have
Been going through this young child’s mind

He soon called authorities
After he learned what truly had happened.
Her mother was kidnapped and not long after, killed
And it nearly did kill him, when he had to tell this sweet, young girl.

The police then arrived and took the girl on a cool cop car ride
They arrived at the station to make a big plan
For this girl was alone in this big scary world.
And there the girl sat, without saying a word.

A caseworker came to take her to stay at a girls home, not too far away.
And when they pulled to the drive she didn’t want to have to stay.
She wanted her mom to tuck her in tight with a kiss on the cheek and a
Loving “goodnight”

They walked up the steps and opened the door,
And all that was seen was girls, girls galore.
They were playing and laughing and just plain having fun
then a nice older lady kneeled down for a hug.

The little girl just looked up and said to her caseworker;
“my mommy has died and I’m all alone, but my new friends will help me
And I know it won’t be long and that day will soon come that I can see
My mommy again and be with her forever and ever in Heaven alongside our
Father.

And that’s exactly what happened.

This little girl met her mommy again after just 10 short, few years
When she died at the hands of a drunk, who had been drinking that night
She was out with her friends, and ran a red light and took all of their lives.
